As an attentive walker noticed, our lime tree and the bench underneath it (at the vantage point with a view of the city of Lucerne) were deliberately damaged by unknown perpetrators during a night prank in May 2022.
On 17 January 2023, the lime tree was moved by our greenkeepers and the wooden bench was replaced by stone benches. The lime tree now stands at the highest point at the edge of the chipping area. Fortunately, its crown remained unharmed and if the tree thrives well, it will be a striking lime tree with a very tall trunk over the years.
On the lookout point, the greenkeepers planted a new, beautiful imperial lime tree (Tilia europaea pallida). It was grown in a tree nursery and already has a trunk circumference of 40 cm. We are confident that both lime trees will thrive and grow well in their locations and will be treated with the respect they deserve.
