Bands performing at Gasthaus Badhof in 2026/27:

Saturday, 7 November 2026

Gebrüder Hess

The Hess Brothers band has been performing Swiss folk music for more than 55 years. Their success story began at the Grünhalde farm above Gesslerburg Castle in Küssnacht, where the eleven children developed an interest in local music from an early age.

Hans, a car mechanic, saved up his apprentice’s wages and was able to buy an accordion from his boss for a hundred francs. Shortly afterwards, Walter also acquired his own accordion, and Kari turned up with a double bass, thus laying the foundations for the Hess Brothers family band. Their brother Alois was the pianist, but he later moved away from Küssnacht and was replaced by Franz.

Ländlerkapelle Gupfbuebä

Evenings at the Badhof with the Gupfbuebä are always cosy and joyful occasions. The Gupfbuebä have remained true to their musical style: The music of this four-piece band is lively, sophisticated and perfect for dancing.

Composer and musician Dani Häusler has been writing music tailor-made for his long-standing Gupfbuebä bandmates for more than 30 years. Alongside him on wind instruments, accordionist Jörg Wiget, pianist Ueli Stump and, since spring 2021, Severin Barmettler on double bass pay homage to the good old-fashioned Ländler music of Inner Schwyz.

Familienkapelle Suter

The traditional yet concert-style Ländler music ensemble.

The two accordionists, Martin Suter (father) and Martin Suter (son), are accompanied by Marion and Ronny on the piano and Marcel Lenggenhager on the double bass. The ensemble particularly enjoys performing Ländler music in the Central Swiss style. However, they are also open to other musical genres and styles. Despite their varied repertoire, they describe themselves as a Swiss folk music ensemble. As well as giving concert performances, they also enjoy entertaining audiences with their rustic and lively repertoire, which invites the audience to dance.

Ländlerkapelle Carlo Brunner

Carlo Brunner’s body of work includes well over 1,000 melodies in the traditional Ländler style. Another milestone is his interpretation of folk hits and traditional Ländler music with the Schwyzerörgeli and accordion player Arno Jehli under the label Arno & Carlo.

The Ländler band comprises Carlo Brunner (clarinet and saxophone), Urs Lötscher (accordion), Schöff Röösli (piano) and Philipp Mettler (double bass).

Ländlerkapelle Churz Lätz

Accordion duo Adi Lambacher and Fredy Reichmuth, with Philipp Laimbacher on piano and Martin Deck on bass.

Saturday, 20 February 2027

The Rickenbacher-Heinzer accordion duo, featuring Felix Gisler on bass and Florin Schmidig on piano.

Christian Rickenbacher and Sepp Heinzer first met through music in 1971. They specialise in the traditional Illgau style: rustic, spirited, danceable and also suitable for concert performances.

Their role models include Arthur Brügger, the Toggeburger-Buebe, Betschart-Rogemoser and many more.

The two accompanying musicians are versatile perfectionists: Felix Gisler masters the bass like no other and also plays the accordion. Florin Schmidig, a musical talent, plays many instruments alongside the piano, such as the bass, accordion and Schwyzerorgel. They enhance the spirited Innerschwyz style.

Familienkapelle Franz und Jolanda Schmidig

From ‘Rees Gwerder’ to ‘Hujässler’.

There is a great deal of variety and diversity within folk music. The family band enjoys playing everything from traditional folk tunes to concert pieces, from ‘Rees Gwerder’ to ‘Hujässler’.

Their wide selection of instruments also adds plenty of variety, as does, of course, a lovely ‘Juuz’ now and then.

Ländlerkapelle Waschächt

The four genuine folk musicians – Frowin Neff, Michi Jud, Daniel Fässler and Carlo Gwerder – promise a varied programme of Ländler music of the highest standard.

Their repertoire features traditional and down-to-earth tunes by composers such as Franz Feierabend, Franz Schmidig senior and Köbi Buser, as well as carefully selected melodies from light music, skilfully accompanied by harmonised vocals. The programme is further enriched by many virtuoso accordion pieces by renowned composers such as Res Schmid, Dolfi Rogenmoser and Res Gwerder.

Accordion trio: Bärti Gisler, Walter Rickenbacher and Angela Gisler, with Cecile Schmidig on bass.

Bärti Gisler was a Schwinger wrestler, a 54-time Uri championship winner and a two-time Swiss national champion. He is a composer and a gifted accordionist. Walter Rickenbacher from Illgau is an accordionist and yodeller. He keeps the rich Illgau musical tradition alive in various ensembles, such as the Bürgler-Rickenbacher Trio and the Illgauergruess band. Angela Gisler is an accomplished accordionist who performs with various ensembles.

Cecile Schmidig was born into a family with a strong folk music tradition. Her grandmother, Cäcilia Schmidig, is the composer of many well-known popular tunes, and her grandfather, Franz Schmidig – known as ‘Lunnis Franz’ – composed around a hundred folk dances and was a passionate accordionist.

Bands that have previously played at Gasthaus Badhof:

Akkordeonduo Wachter-Rutz
featuring Jacqueline Wachter on piano and Martina Rohrer on bass

Their repertoire is wide-ranging: from concert-style accordion music to traditional folk music.

It is clear that the Wachters’ hearts beat for music. Heidi and Ruedi Wachter founded the music shop in 1980. They specialise in accordions and Schwyzerörgeli and stock a wide range of different accordions and Schwyzerörgeli, as well as guitars, keyboards, electric pianos and so on. At the same time, they run a music school for all ages, where pupils can enjoy lessons delivered by qualified and experienced teachers. Supporting young people has always been a major priority for them.

Wyberkapelle with Urs Meier

The Wyberkapelle, featuring Andrea Ulrich, Gaby-Isabelle Näf, Martina Rohrer and guest musician Urs Meier, present a colourful and varied programme. Their repertoire is a mix of original compositions, traditional and contemporary Swiss folk music, as well as international tunes.

Alternating between an accordion duo and a Central Swiss brass ensemble, these four passionate musicians ensure a varied musical evening.

Ländlerkapelle Bühler-Fischer

Franz Bühler, clarinet & saxophone, Beat Fischer, accordion, Fredy Reichmuth, piano, and Dominik Lendi, double bass, are outstanding representatives of the Central Swiss folk music style.

There is hardly anything that these four musicians have not experienced since the group was formed in March 1981: performances at home and abroad, tours including overseas, numerous radio and television appearances (both solo and alongside all the big names in the folk music scene), numerous record and CD releases, a video production and much more.

Luzerner Ländler-Band

Since February 2013, the Lucerne-based Ländler band has been enriching the Swiss (folk) music scene. The well-known accordionist Claudia Muff performs here alongside the top clarinettist Josef Fischer and the accomplished bassist Sepp Huber.

Their repertoire ranges from well-known ‘Ländler hits’ to old folk music gems and ‘New Folk Music’. They are also happy to play other genres of folk music (Klezmer, tango, valse musette, Irish reels, etc.).

The instrumental diversity of the three musicians (clarinet, saxophone, recorder, accordion, double bass) allows for many variations. Concert sets are interspersed with interesting anecdotes on the history of folk music. The ensemble also performs subtle background music.

Ländlerkapelle Handorgelduo Betschart-Müller

HD Betschart-Müller is dedicated to the Ländler music of the 1960s to the 1980s – a period when various legendary accordion duos were much loved.

Consequently, the compositions by the Toggenburgerbuebe, HD Betschart-Rogenmoser, Betschart-Belmont, Lüönd-Ulrich and the Echo von Adelboden are all favourites performed by Tobias, Urs, Torsten and Peter.

Willis Wyberkapelle

Willi Valotti from Toggenburg has joined forces with three exceptionally talented musicians: Andrea Ulrich, Gaby-Isabelle Näf and Martina Rohrer. This extraordinary quartet offers music of the highest calibre across a range of styles.

The group’s strength lies in its versatility. Original compositions, traditional and contemporary Swiss folk music, as well as international sounds, are performed with an infectious enthusiasm and passion.

Kapelle Jost Ribary-René Wicky

The Jost Ribary–René Wicky folk band has been in existence since 1983, initially led by the son and now by the grandson of the late master Jost Ribary, composer of ‘Steiner Chilbi’.

René Wicky is undoubtedly one of the most significant Ländler accordionists and composers on the Swiss folk music scene. His compositions, such as ‘rassig, urchig, bodeständig’, ‘Schönegg-Marsch’, ‘Blick uf See und Berge’ and ‘s’ Härz am rächte Fläck’, are just a few of his more than 1,000 ‘Tänzlis’. With the highest honour in the field of Ländler music, the ‘Golden Violin Key’, René Wicky has undoubtedly earned the status of a ‘Ländler king’.
